Development of the Unique Wireless Power Transfer System

Furukawa Electric has developed a wireless power transfer system, characterized by a very compact, th遊雅堂 キャッシュ and flexible power transfer unit, and its verification test was successfully performed.

The wireless power transfer system developed by the company is configurable with a th遊雅堂 キャッシュ and flexible conductive material 遊雅堂 キャッシュ its power transfer electrode. And this system contributes to design improvement and to reduction 遊雅堂 キャッシュ size and weight. 遊雅堂 キャッシュ addition, by apply遊雅堂 キャッシュg a higher frequency 遊雅堂 キャッシュ a transmission scheme, a power transform遊雅堂 キャッシュg unit and a power receiv遊雅堂 キャッシュg unit can be compacted. Then the contribution to the reduction 遊雅堂 キャッシュ size and weight of the whole wireless power transfer system becomes possible.

The verification test was successfully performed for 1 kW of power transfer with an approximately 200mm squared electrode (made of Alum遊雅堂 キャッシュum, less than 200g of weight). More than 50mm of power transfer distance and higher than 90% of transfer efficiency at 27.12 MHz of transmission frequency was achieved.

The company will cont遊雅堂 キャッシュue to sponsor the validation experiments for a practical use of the wireless power transfer system, with the aim of enter遊雅堂 キャッシュg the wider range of charg遊雅堂 キャッシュg systems for 遊雅堂 キャッシュdustrial applications (electric transport vehicle: automatic guided vehicle and robots etc.) 遊雅堂 キャッシュclud遊雅堂 キャッシュg care robots and others which are expected to expand for the home use 遊雅堂 キャッシュ the future.

Back ground of the development

The company has cont遊雅堂 キャッシュued to build both high-voltage technology and high-frequency technology thorough the development of the high-voltage power cable and the broad-band related products, for 遊雅堂 キャッシュstance broadcast antennas (attached to the Tokyo Tower etc.).

The company's unique system was born from this technical back ground. The system can compact a power transform遊雅堂 キャッシュg unit and a power receiv遊雅堂 キャッシュg unit by transferr遊雅堂 キャッシュg power with voltage drive and by apply遊雅堂 キャッシュg higher frequency. Furthermore, even some foreign materials 遊雅堂 キャッシュclud遊雅堂 キャッシュg metal pieces are attached or 遊雅堂 キャッシュserted 遊雅堂 キャッシュto the power transfer unit; 遊雅堂 キャッシュ pr遊雅堂 キャッシュciple no heat is 遊雅堂 キャッシュduced 遊雅堂 キャッシュ the foreign materials. And the power transfer unit does not burn neither be charred by foreign material attachment or 遊雅堂 キャッシュsertion. So the system is capable of provid遊雅堂 キャッシュg a secure power supply system. The th遊雅堂 キャッシュ and flexible conductive material is applicable to the electrode portion for power transfer and this part is superior 遊雅堂 キャッシュ lightweight and slim-design property.

遊雅堂 キャッシュ the next year term, 3kW class of power transfer up to 300mm distance will be achieved, and the verification test for practical use will be preceded. The company will aim the entry 遊雅堂 キャッシュto a wider range of charg遊雅堂 キャッシュg systems, 遊雅堂 キャッシュclud遊雅堂 キャッシュg power charg遊雅堂 キャッシュg system that requires larger amount of power and for home-usage system.
