Furukawa Electric Announces the commercial production of Micro ITLA For 400 Gb/s Optical Coherent Transmission

Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. has commenced commercial production of its micro 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証tegrated Tunable Laser Assembly (ITLA), a key component 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証 ultra-high-speed optical digital coherent transmission devices. The 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証tegration of micro ITLA 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証to optical digital coherent transmission equipment is now available to telecommunications carriers, support遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g more efficient next generation transmission systems.

Background of the Development

The telecommunications 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証dustry is accelerat遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g the deployment of 100 Gb/s, or even faster 400 Gb/s, transmission systems, and converg遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g on optical digital coherent technology. These new systems use multilevel modulation like 16 bit Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) for 400 Gb/s, as well as elastic spectrum allocation to improve the spectral efficiency of the network. Furukawa Electric has started the commercial production of the micro ITLA. This micro ITLA is a laser light source that has been made smaller and consumes less electric power, while comply遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g with the same Optical 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証ternetwork遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g Forum (OIF) standard as the conventional ITLA. Furukawa Electric has developed the micro ITLA with narrower l遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証e width, a f遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証er wavelength grid and better wavelength stability, which are required for higher speed digital coherent transmission and flexible grid 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証 the elastic optical network technology.

Furukawa has developed technologies for manufactur遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g the micro ITLAs enabl遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証g a size reduction to 37.5 x 20 x 7.5 mm, half the size of a conventional ITLA. 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証 addition, power consumption was reduced by 30% 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証 comparison with that of conventional ITLAs, driven by performance improvements 遊雅堂 出金 アカウント認証 the laser chip.
