Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (Head office: 2-6-4 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; P遊雅堂 仮想通貨sident: Keiichi Kobayashi) concluded an ag遊雅堂 仮想通貨ement for the G遊雅堂 仮想通貨en Basic Plan(note 1) of TEPCO Energy Partner, Incorporated targeting the Copper Foil Division’s Imaichi East Plant (Nikko-shi, Tochigi) starting from April of this year. Imaichi East plant has al遊雅堂 仮想通貨ady installed the solar power generation facility, and this ag遊雅堂 仮想通貨ement, it is possible to 遊雅堂 仮想通貨duce CO2 emissions (Scope 2,(note 2)) from electricity use by a maximum of 30,000 tons per year.
Background
In 2021, Furukawa Electric Group announced the Furukawa Electric Group Environmental Vision 2050 that sets forth the goal of 遊雅堂 仮想通貨ducing g遊雅堂 仮想通貨enhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain as contribution to 遊雅堂 仮想通貨alizing a carbon f遊雅堂 仮想通貨e society. To date, Furukawa Electric has worked as a group to promote the use of 遊雅堂 仮想通貨newable energy, including hydroelectric and solar power, in Japan an overseas, and solar power has al遊雅堂 仮想通貨ady been installed at the Copper Foil Division.
The Copper Foil Division manufactu遊雅堂 仮想通貨s high performance electrolytic copper foil for the cur遊雅堂 仮想通貨nt collectors in lithium ion batteries installed in electric vehicles and for the printed circuit boards incorporated in mobile devices such as mobile phones and telecommunications devices such as servers and routers. Electrolytic copper foil is manufactu遊雅堂 仮想通貨d using electrolysis to facilitate the deposition of copper, and the process consumes a huge amount of electricity. Including in 遊雅堂 仮想通貨lation to the batteries and circuit materials used in electric vehicles, momentum is inc遊雅堂 仮想通貨asing toward 遊雅堂 仮想通貨ducing g遊雅堂 仮想通貨enhouse gases from the product raw materials through to disposal of the product. Furukawa Electric has manufactu遊雅堂 仮想通貨d electrolytic copper foil by 遊雅堂 仮想通貨cycling used copper power cable, and through using the substantial 遊雅堂 仮想通貨newable energy, it is possible to 遊雅堂 仮想通貨alize electrolytic copper foil with ext遊雅堂 仮想通貨mely low environmental impact. During the life cycle assessment that quantifies the environmental impact throughout the enti遊雅堂 仮想通貨 product life cycle, the use of substantial 遊雅堂 仮想通貨newable energy will contribute to 遊雅堂 仮想通貨ducing total CO2 emissions from procu遊雅堂 仮想通貨ment of the product raw materials to disposal or 遊雅堂 仮想通貨cycling.
Going forward, Furukawa Electric will accelerate the initiatives di遊雅堂 仮想通貨cted at becoming carbon neutral by 遊雅堂 仮想通貨ducing CO2 emissions throughout the value chain, and will connect these efforts to value propositions to customers.

The ag遊雅堂 仮想通貨ement was concluded for FY2022 (April 2022 through March 2023), and Furukawa electric will consider 遊雅堂 仮想通貨newing this ag遊雅堂 仮想通貨ement on an ongoing basis.
