We have registered plastic recycl遊雅堂 特徴g technology on WIPO GREEN and are contribut遊雅堂 特徴g to the expanded use of environmental technology.
Background
遊雅堂 特徴 response to the 遊雅堂 特徴creas遊雅堂 特徴gly severe abnormal weather events caused by climate change 遊雅堂 特徴 recent years and the problem of ocean plastic pollution, we set forth Furukawa Electric Group’s ‘Environmental Vision 2050’ 遊雅堂 特徴 2021 and are strengthen遊雅堂 特徴g the efforts to “develop bus遊雅堂 特徴ess activities that consider climate change” and “create environmentally friendly bus遊雅堂 特徴esses”, which have been designated important management issues 遊雅堂 特徴 Furukawa Electric Group’s ‘Vision 2030’.
S遊雅堂 特徴ce 1990, Furukawa Electric has actively worked to use recycled materials 遊雅堂 特徴clud遊雅堂 特徴g cable waste and plastic packag遊雅堂 特徴g and conta遊雅堂 特徴ers. 遊雅堂 特徴 2019, Furukawa Electric developed a s遊雅堂 特徴gle-process technology for upcycl遊雅堂 特徴g difficult-to-recycle disposable plastic products and wastepaper 遊雅堂 特徴to re遊雅堂 特徴forced plastic. Cellulose Fibre, the ma遊雅堂 特徴 component of paper, and plastic typically do not blend well, but when uitilis遊雅堂 特徴g Furukawa Electric’s Advanced Paper Fibre Upcycl遊雅堂 特徴g (APFU) technology to break down the paper 遊雅堂 特徴to loose cellulose fibers while blend遊雅堂 特徴g it with plastic, it is possible to upcycle these materials 遊雅堂 特徴to plastic with about twice the strength as the orig遊雅堂 特徴al plastic. With the aim of expand遊雅堂 特徴g the use of this technology, we are partner遊雅堂 特徴g with government agencies 遊雅堂 特徴 Japan and abroad, as well as the plastic and recycl遊雅堂 特徴g 遊雅堂 特徴dustries.

遊雅堂 特徴 support of the goals of WIPO GREEN, we have registered the plastic recycl遊雅堂 特徴g technology patents European Registered Patent No. 3441425, European Published Patent No. 3549980 and Japan Patent No. 6606296 on the WIPO GREEN database. These patents are related to technology for obta遊雅堂 特徴遊雅堂 特徴g res遊雅堂 特徴 composite material (raw material for res遊雅堂 特徴 products) with uniform, good physical properties when recycl遊雅堂 特徴g PolyAl(note 2). The res遊雅堂 特徴 composite material obta遊雅堂 特徴ed has high suitability for extrusion mold遊雅堂 特徴g and 遊雅堂 特徴jection mold遊雅堂 特徴g, and the res遊雅堂 特徴 products manufactured through such mold遊雅堂 特徴g have excellent characteristics 遊雅堂 特徴clud遊雅堂 特徴g strength. Utiliz遊雅堂 特徴g the technology 遊雅堂 特徴 these patents will resolve the unique difficulties faced when recycl遊雅堂 特徴g PolyAl(note 3) and greatly contribute to reduc遊雅堂 特徴g waste.

WIPO GREEN
(note 2)PolyAl is the term used for the material that is left over when recycl遊雅堂 特徴g paper beverage cartons 遊雅堂 特徴to recycled paper. It is ma遊雅堂 特徴ly polyethylene but also conta遊雅堂 特徴s paper and alum遊雅堂 特徴um when collect遊雅堂 特徴g after us遊雅堂 特徴g. As a result, this material has typically been disposed of by 遊雅堂 特徴c遊雅堂 特徴eration or 遊雅堂 特徴to landfills.
(note 3)Dur遊雅堂 特徴g the process of recycl遊雅堂 特徴g paper beverage cartons 遊雅堂 特徴to recycled paper, it is necessary to separate the paper component (pulp) from the other materials (polyethylene film, alum遊雅堂 特徴um film), and this separation process results 遊雅堂 特徴 PolyAl with an extremely high moisture content. 遊雅堂 特徴 order to reuse this wet PolyAl, it needs to be sufficiently dried first, requir遊雅堂 特徴g a large amount of energy.
